Actor Choi Min Sik returns to the small screen through Big Bet after 25 years of vacuum starring in Korean dramas. He will compete with Son Suk Ku, Lee Dong Hwi, and Heo Sung Tae.

Big Bet tells the story of Cha Moo Sik, a man who struggled from scratch. He went through hard times to become a casino ruler.

One day, Cha Moo Sik is faced with a tragedy when he is being investigated as part of a murder case. With his determination to fight, he is willing to risk everything, including his life, to return his success.

Not long ago, Disney+ Hotstar held a press conference before the broadcast of Big Bet. The actors also revealed the excitement they experienced while filming in the Philippines and Korea.

"My character is a detective, and he was sent from Korea to the international criminal department. Crime is getting higher in the Philippines, so he became the first Korean policeman to be sent to the Philippines," said Son Suk Ku.

"I haven't seen all the episodes, but when my character faced Cha Moo Sik, Choi Min Sik gave me lots of new tips and ideas. I'm very curious about what will happen when it can be seen on the screen," he continued.

Director and writer Kang Yun Sung admitted that he faced challenges while filming Big Bet. The biggest challenge was the COVID-19 pandemic which made him have to worry about many things because he had to film in Korea and the Philippines.

"While planning to go to the Philippines, COVID-19 was on the rise again. We went there, looking for locations, so we had to undergo quarantine and worry about the safety of the actors and crew," explained director Kang.

"But luckily when we went to the Philippines, COVID-19 was better there. In fact, it was much worse in Korea, so we were very lucky," he added.

On the other hand, Choi Min Sik admits that he really misses starring in Korean dramas. This is the reason he returned to the screen through Big Bet.

"I actually miss starring in a TV series. The film is very intense and the duration is short, so this puts pressure on you," said Choi Min Sik.

"In the TV series we can see the story being told in a longer way. So we can explain very well what we want to tell. Starring in the TV series is very challenging from a physical perspective, but I really miss it. That's why I came back via Big Bet," he concluded .

Big Bet is divided into two seasons. The first season can be watched starting today, Wednesday (21/12) for 8 episodes on Disney+ Hotstar. /hot.detik.com
